Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Since Monel 400 or Alloy 400 is a cold worked metal, this alloy has high hardness, stiffness and strength. By cold working ASTM B164 UNS N04400 bar stock, the alloy is subjected to higher levels of mechanical stress, which in turn causes changes in the alloy’s microstructure.

It is widely used in offshore oil and gas exploration/production and in heat exchangers in petrochemical/chemical processing.

Higher chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content results in a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) > 40, providing superior pitting and crevice corrosion capabilities to austenitic and duplex stainless steels in virtually all corrosive media, and critical pitting temperature Above 50¡ãC .

ASTM A182 Alloy Steel Pipe Fittings are very easy to install and have a low hub due to the pipe going into the fitting before welding.

Stainless steel 304 has higher chromium and lower carbon content. The carbon content of this steel is as low as 0.03%, thus reducing its susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. This steel can be continuously exposed to temperatures of about 1500¡ãF without significant fouling.

Machinability 310/310SS stainless steel pipe are similar in machinability to Type 304. Work hardening can be a problem and it is normal to remove the work hardened layer by using low speed and heavy cutting, sharp tools and good lubrication. Use powerful machines and heavy rigid tools.

Titanium behaves as an inert element in the presence of oxygen and water, which means it does not react with oxygen and water at ambient temperature conditions.

The optimum conditions for Alloy 601 seamless pipe depend on the type of application and the service temperatures involved. Generally, Alloy 601 pipe in solution treated condition is used in fracture-limited applications, where temperatures can be as high as about 1000¡ãF and still may rise.

Incoloy 800 is an alloy with a higher content of iron. Due to the alloy having a higher content of ferrous, and lower content of nickel, the cost of Inconel 800 becomes low.

The flanges could also be manufactured as screwed, threaded or forged types. The forged flanges are made from a single piece of raw material. These are also called the cast flanges.

The composition of Monel K500 fasteners includes carbon, 2.3% aluminum, manganese, silicon, iron, sulfur and titanium in addition to nickel and copper. It is this unique composition that gives the material its superior strength, extreme corrosion resistance and ductility. Applications for these fasteners include the offshore petroleum industry, power plant applications, petrochemicals, gas handling units, specialty chemicals, and more.

The alloy exhibits excellent resistance to seawater and brine, making it well suited to marine applications.

254SMO is substantially stronger than the common austenitic grades, but is also characterized by high ductility and impact strength.

A flange is a ring of steel (forged, cut from plate, or rolled) designed to connect sections of pipe, or to join pipe to a pressure vessel, valve, pump or other integral flanged assembly. Flanges are joined to each other by bolts, and to the piping system by welding or threading (or loose when stub ends are used). Stainless steel flange simplified as SS flange, it refers to the flanges that made of stainless steel. Common material standards and Grades are ASTM A182 Grade F304/L and F316/L, with pressure ratings from Class 150, 300, 600 etc and to 2500. It used in more industries than carbon steel as stainless steel has better resistant performances on corrosion environment and always provides with a good appearance.

The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance.
