The addition of molybdenum and chromium to its alloys ensures better mechanical properties and a certain degree of corrosion resistance. ASTM A182 F22 Class 3 flanges have good atmospheric corrosion resistance and some resistance to scaling when they are exposed to high temperatures. The addition of molybdenum to alloys is generally associated with high stiffness and hardness. Therefore, when included in the chemical composition of Astm A182 F22 Class 1 WNRF Flanges, its toughness gives the alloy an advantage over conventional carbon steel grades.

304 has good oxidation resistance in intermittent duty up to 870¡ãC and continuous duty up to 925¡ãC. However, continuous use at 425-860¡ãC is not recommended. In this case, 304L is recommended because of its resistance to carbide precipitation.

Bright Annealed (BA) is produced by heat-treating (annealing) steel with a controlled atmosphere furnace. After heat-treatment, the steel has a reflective, mirror-like appearance, but may also have some imperfections and cloudiness. SAE 304 stainless steel is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18% and 20%) and nickel (between 8% and 10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel. It is less electrically and thermally conductive than carbon steel. It is magnetic, but less magnetic than steel. It has a higher corrosion resistance than regular steel and is widely used because of the ease in which it is formed into various shapes.[1]

Grade F22 is a low alloy steel grade with a chromium content between 2% and 2.5%. The content of chromium and molybdenum is twice that of F11 grade. However, due to the maximum content of all alloying elements up to 5%, it is classified as a low alloy steel grade. As a low alloy steel grade, ASTM A182 F22 flanges outperform carbon steel, especially in applications involving high temperatures.

For 304L stainless steel pipe, the range of carbon content in the steel affects the corrosion resistance of the tank. During the welding of steel, a phenomenon called “chromium carbide precipitation” occurs at temperatures between 800 and 1500¡ãF (425 and 815¡ãC). Chromium combines with carbon in the heat affected zone and precipitates as chromium carbide at grain boundaries. As a result, it significantly reduces the corrosion resistance of the steel in this area. Due to the lower carbon content of 304L steel, the risk of chromium carbide precipitation is greatly reduced.

ASTM A453 specification describes the detailed requirements for Class A, B, C, and D, Class 660. The A453 specification covers Class 660 bolt materials with two classes of yield strength, viz. 85 ksi and 100 ksi [585 and 725 MPa] respectively for high temperature service, components such as bolts, screws, nuts, studs and various other fasteners for pressure vessel and valve flanges. A286 is a precipitation hardening austenitic stainless steel designed for temperatures up to 1300¡ãF (704¡ãC) where high tensile strength, excellent creep strength and good corrosion resistance are required.

A flange is a ring of steel (forged, cut from plate, or rolled) designed to connect sections of pipe, or to join pipe to a pressure vessel, valve, pump or other integral flanged assembly. Flanges are joined to each other by bolts, and to the piping system by welding or threading (or loose when stub ends are used). Stainless steel flange simplified as SS flange, it refers to the flanges that made of stainless steel. Common material standards and Grades are ASTM A182 Grade F304/L and F316/L, with pressure ratings from Class 150, 300, 600 etc and to 2500. It used in more industries than carbon steel as stainless steel has better resistant performances on corrosion environment and always provides with a good appearance.

The austenitic structure also gives these grades excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures.

Stainless steel 347 reducer has tensile strength and minimum yield strength. Stainless Steel 347 Stub End Fittings are a non-magnetic grade that cannot be hardened by heat treatment, are typically used in the annealed condition, and are known for their ease of fabrication and formability.

UNS N08367 also commonaly called as AL6XN alloy. AL-6XN alloy (UNS N08367) is a low carbon, nitrogen-bearing and high purity “super-austenitic” stainless alloy. The corrosion resistance and high strength of the Al6XN WN Flange make it a better choice than the conventional duplex stainless steels such as 904L or 254 SMO where excellent weldability, formability, corrosion resistance and strength are essential.

Stainless steel Din 1.4539 fasteners are the basic identification of stainless steel 904L fasteners, which add a large amount of selenium and copper to a solution of phosphorus to improve resistance performance.

The main difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel is that the 316 grade has a much higher molybdenum content, typically 2-3% by weight, and provides better corrosion resistance.

Type 304L can be dual certified as 304 when the composition meets the lower carbon limit of 304L and a slightly higher 304 strength level.
