904L washers are made of a non-stabilized low carbon high alloy austenitic stainless steel. The addition of copper to this grade gives it greatly improved resistance to strong reducing acids, particularly sulphuric acid. It is also highly resistant to chloride attack ¨C both pitting / crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. This grade is non-magnetic in all conditions and has excellent weldability and formability. The austenitic structure also gives this grade excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures. Due to its intrinsic anti-corrosive properties, 904L can be made into bolts, nuts, washers, studs, socket head cap screws, as well as a wide variety of other fasteners.

304L stainless steel pipe is a low carbon variant of grade 304 – the steel can be welded without problems with carbon precipitation (the precipitation of chromium carbide when heat is applied during welding depletes the steel of chromium, reducing its resistance to -corrosion/oxidation Effect).

For 304 stainless steel tube heat resistance, it has good oxidation resistance in intermittent use at 8700C and continuous use at 9250C. Continuous use of 304 in the 425-8600C range is not recommended if subsequent water corrosion resistance is important. Grade 304L is more resistant to carbide precipitation and can be heated to the above temperature range.

Steel tubes are lined up on a fabricator and cut to a required length before heading to the following process. The cleaning in this stage helps remove dirt from the pipes, and then once treated with heat, the rolled pipes and tubes are stripped of any stresses that can come up in the welding and formation process.

Steel flanges provide an easy access for cleaning, inspection or modification. They usually come in round shapes but they can also come in square and rectangular forms. The flanges are joined to each other by bolting and joined to the piping system by welding or threading and are designed to the specific pressure ratings; 150lb, 300lb, 400lb, 600lb, 900lb, 1500lb and 2500lb.

A flange can be a plate for covering or closing the end of a pipe. This is called a blind flange. Thus, flanges are considered to be internal components which are used to support mechanical parts.

Components constructed under specification ASTM A182 such as 317L Stainless Steel Flanges are intended to be used for elevated temperatures. Molybdenum and nitrogen content significantly increased the resistance of pitting and crevice corrosion in the halide media. Meantime, nickel and nitrogen not only ensures the stability of metallographical, but also reduce separating intergranular trend in the thermal process or welding process better than the nitrogen content of nickel alloy.

Annealing is a heat treatment process which alters the microstructure of a material to change its mechanical or electrical properties. Typically, in steels, annealing is used to reduce hardness, increase ductility and help eliminate internal stresses.

SAE 304 stainless steel is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18% and 20%) and nickel (between 8% and 10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel. It is less electrically and thermally conductive than carbon steel. It is magnetic, but less magnetic than steel. It has a higher corrosion resistance than regular steel and is widely used because of the ease in which it is formed into various shapes.[1]

A flange is a ring of steel (forged, cut from plate, or rolled) designed to connect sections of pipe, or to join pipe to a pressure vessel, valve, pump or other integral flanged assembly. Flanges are joined to each other by bolts, and to the piping system by welding or threading (or loose when stub ends are used). Stainless steel flange simplified as SS flange, it refers to the flanges that made of stainless steel. Common material standards and Grades are ASTM A182 Grade F304/L and F316/L, with pressure ratings from Class 150, 300, 600 etc and to 2500. It used in more industries than carbon steel as stainless steel has better resistant performances on corrosion environment and always provides with a good appearance.

Grade 316L, the low carbon version of 316 and is immune from sensitization (grain boundary carbide precipitation).

Stainless steel 310 sheet is a medium carbon austenitic stainless steel, for heat applications such as furnace parts and hotness procedure tools.

There is more carbon in 316 stainless steel than 316L. This is easy to remember because the L stands for “low”. But even with the lower carbon content, 316L is very similar to 316 in almost every way. Costs are very similar, and both are durable, corrosion-resistant, and a good choice for high-stress situations.
