Duplex stainless steel is designed to combine improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking (including sulfide stress corrosion cracking), pitting, crevice corrosion and high strength when compared with other stainless alloys.

The austenitic structure of 316 stainless steel pipe bend gives excellent toughness, even at cryogenic temperatures.

The austenitic stainless steel 6Mo was developed on the basis of alloy 904l/1.4539. However, the molybdenum content at 6Mo is increased to 6.5%. 6Mo has excellent general corrosion resistance and improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. Resistance to stress corrosion cracking is also improved. It is often referred to as super austenitic stainless steel.

Application requiring a combination of high strength and corrosion resistance may consider Incoloy 925 Weld Neck Flanges. All should be done to minimize work hardening of Incoloy 925 Socket Weld Flanges, but can be minimized by reducing the machining speeds and/or the depth of cut.

Steel flanges provide an easy access for cleaning, inspection or modification. They usually come in round shapes but they can also come in square and rectangular forms. The flanges are joined to each other by bolting and joined to the piping system by welding or threading and are designed to the specific pressure ratings; 150lb, 300lb, 400lb, 600lb, 900lb, 1500lb and 2500lb.

UNS N08031 Nut is a nitrogen-added iron-nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. Also known as WNR 1.4562 Nuts, its pitting resistance in high chloride environments is between super-austenitic stainless steels and nickel alloys. The alloy has very good corrosion resistance in mixed acid and high chloride environments. Typical applications for these nuts are control lines, heat exchangers, control and instrumentation pipes, etc. Industries that primarily use this grade are chemical processing, oil and gas, etc.

Chemically, elements such as manganese, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, copper, columbium, chromium, carbon, cobalt, molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, titanium, aluminum, iron, nickel, boron, etc. must comply with the normative standard ASTM B670. According to the ASTM B670 specification, Inconel 718 Din 2.4668 Polished Plates must also consider tensile strength, yield strength and elongation requirements. In addition, Alloy 718 Nickel Gasket Stock is required to be stress-rupture tested according to the ASTM document itemized here.

Nickel alloy 718 bolts are also used for superheat power reasons at room or superheated temperatures for first-class corrosion resistance including resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, in addition to polysulfonic acid strain corrosion cracking.

Incoloy 925 flange also contains additional levels of titanium and aluminum compared to 825.

800H can not be corroded in many kinds of media. Its higher nickel content made it have good stress corrosion resistance cracking properties in the water corrosion condition. High chromium content made it better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion cracking. This alloy can resist nitric acid and organic acid, but it is not so fine in the sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid.
800H have good corrosion resistance to both oxidation and non-oxidizing salt, but maybe a little pitting in halide, and also excellent properties in the mixture of water, smoke, steam, air and carbon dioxide.

ASTM A234 is the standard specification for pipe fittings of wrought carbon steel and alloy steel for moderate and high-temperature service. Carbon steel pipe fittings manufactured to ASMT A234 are usually furnished in butt-welding form in accordance with ASME B16.9 or ASME B16.49. There are two carbon steel grades: WPB and WPC, of which ASTM A234 WPB is mostly often used in pipeline industry. The A234 WPB butt-welding pipe fittings include elbows, bends, returns, tees, reducers, end caps, crosses, lap joint stub ends, nipples and couplings.
After forming at an elevated temperature, fittings are cooled to a temperature below the critical range under suitable conditions to prevent injurious defects caused by too rapid cooling, but in no case more rapidly than the cooling rate in still air. Heat treatment temperatures specified are metal (part) temperatures. Heat-treated fittings are to be treated according to paragraph 7 in Specification A960/A960M.
