Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Since Monel 400 or Alloy 400 is a cold worked metal, this alloy has high hardness, stiffness and strength. By cold working ASTM B164 UNS N04400 bar stock, the alloy is subjected to higher levels of mechanical stress, which in turn causes changes in the alloy’s microstructure.

Inconel 625 Coil is characterized by its excellent resistance to oxidation, high-temperature corrosion and fatigue. Age-hardenable Inconel 718 Heavy Duty Hex Bolts can be easily fabricated, even into complex parts. Inconel UNS N07718 bolts are also commonly found in gas turbine blades, seals and combustors, as well as turbocharger rotors and seals, electric submersible well pump motor shafts, high temperature fasteners, chemical processing and pressure vessels, etc. Other uses for this alloy tend to be in gas turbine components and cryogenic storage tanks. Carbon steel is a special type of steel that, as the name suggests, has a higher carbon content than other types of steel. Most types of steel have relatively low carbon content, around 0.05% to 0.3%. In comparison, carbon steel has a carbon content of up to 2.5%. Twenty and a half percent carbon may sound insignificant, but it brings several attractive benefits not found elsewhere.

Monel 400 is used in process vessels, heat exchanger piping, and gasoline and potable water storage tanks in the marine sector. The non-sparking properties of this alloy make it suitable for high-risk situations in the explosives industry, rockets and pulp and paper industries.

These Hastelloy C276 contain a mixture of molybdenum, nickel and chromium species. Like other nickel alloys, it is ductile, easy to form and weld, and has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking (a form of easily degradable austenitic stainless steel) in chloride-containing solutions. Due to its high chromium and molybdenum content, it is resistant to oxidizing and non-oxidizing acids and exhibits excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in the presence of chlorides and other halides.

316L stainless steel is an ultra-low carbon version of 316 stainless steel that helps avoid carbide precipitation from welding. Grade 316 stainless steel has a lower chromium content¡ªtypically around 16%¡ªbut increases the nickel content and adds molybdenum to the mix.

NAS NW276 is a Ni Cr Mo alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. In this alloy, carbide precipitation in the heat affected zone (HAZ) is suppressed and corrosion resistance is improved by reducing the contents of C and Si.

Alloy 800HT / Incoloy 800HT is a controlled composition derivative of INCOLOY? alloy 800H (UNS N08810) and is used for the same creep resistant applications, however the combined effects of mechanical and thermal processing of the alloy permit higher design stresses to be incorporated than are permitted for the conventional alloy.

Hex bolts are used to fasten two or more parts together to form an assembly either because it cannot be manufactured as a single part or to allow for maintenance and repair disassembly. By definition “A Bolt is a headed and externally threaded mechanical device designed for insertion through holes in assembled parts to mate with a nut and is normally intended to be tightened or released by turning that nut.” When used with a preformed internally threaded (tapped) hole, the hex bolt’s head is turned to tighten, which technically makes it a screw (see our Tech Data section for a discussion regarding the differences between bolts and screws). Hex bolts are also known as: hex head bolts, cap screws, hex cap screws, hex head cap screws, machine bolts, hex machine bolts, hex head machine bolts and, if fully threaded, tap bolts, hex tap bolts and hex head tap bolts. A hex bolt is often differentiated from a hex cap screw by its underhead bearing surface: if it has a circular boss, called a washer face, it’s a hex cap screw¡ªif it doesn’t then it’s a hex bolt.

Inconel 625 hex bolts are used in a variety of corrosive environments. In sea water applications, Inconel 625 hex bolts remain free from pitting and crevice corrosion. Hastelloy C276 flanges are made of a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy called Hastelloy. The composition includes 50.99% nickel, 14.5% chromium, 15% molybdenum and carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur, cobalt, iron and phosphorus. Hastelloy C276 flanges have a high melting point of 1370 degrees Celsius.

Grade 1.4404 or 316L is an austenitic stainless steel AISI 316 with very good corrosion resistance due to its high chromium and molybdenum content and low carbon content. Its strength in the hardened state is about 600 MPa for large diameters, but for small sections, the strength can be increased by cold working.
