These ASTM A182 Grade F5 Flanges gives extraordinary erosion resistance in, for instance, caustic and acidic applications which includes sulphuric and higher chloride environments. INCONEL (nickel-chromium-iron) alloy 600 is a standard engineering material for applications which require resistance to corrosion and heat. The alloy also has excellent mechanical properties and presents the desirable combination of high strength and good workability.

The chemical balance allows the alloy to exhibit excellent resistance to carburization, oxidation and nitriding atmospheres. 800HT will not become embrittled even after long periods of usage in the 1200-1600 deg F range where many stainless steels become brittle. Excellent cold forming characteristics typically associated with the nickel-chromium alloys are exhibited with 800HT. When cold formed extensively the grain size produces a visibly undulated surface called “orange peel”. 800HT can be welded by the common techniques used on stainless steels.

Hex bolts are used to fasten two or more parts together to form an assembly either because it cannot be manufactured as a single part or to allow for maintenance and repair disassembly. By definition “A Bolt is a headed and externally threaded mechanical device designed for insertion through holes in assembled parts to mate with a nut and is normally intended to be tightened or released by turning that nut.” When used with a preformed internally threaded (tapped) hole, the hex bolt’s head is turned to tighten, which technically makes it a screw (see our Tech Data section for a discussion regarding the differences between bolts and screws). Hex bolts are also known as: hex head bolts, cap screws, hex cap screws, hex head cap screws, machine bolts, hex machine bolts, hex head machine bolts and, if fully threaded, tap bolts, hex tap bolts and hex head tap bolts. A hex bolt is often differentiated from a hex cap screw by its underhead bearing surface: if it has a circular boss, called a washer face, it’s a hex cap screw¡ªif it doesn’t then it’s a hex bolt.

Alloy 2205 gets the name Duplex because it is composed of two different types of grains. 40-50% of its grain structure is austenite and 50-60% of it is ferrite. It is closely related to, but much more popular than Alloy 255. In most environments, it surpasses 317L in crevice corrosion resistance. 2205 Duplex excels in chloride environments and resists hydrogen sulfide. 2205 Duplex has almost twice the strength of 316L. Due to the lower nickel and molybdenum content, it is less costly than Alloy C276. Among the places where 2205 Duplex is used include pressure vessels, heat exchangers and scrubbing systems.

Inconel 625 bar is a heat resistant nickel based superalloy. The high strength of these bars makes them a difficult prospect for machines. Bars of this grade have a machinability rating of 17% and a hardness of 29 HRC.

This stainless steel is considered for a wide variety of applications on good corrosion resistance, ease fabrication, excellent formability, and high strength with low weight.

A flange is a ring of steel (forged, cut from plate, or rolled) designed to connect sections of pipe, or to join pipe to a pressure vessel, valve, pump or other integral flanged assembly. Flanges are joined to each other by bolts, and to the piping system by welding or threading (or loose when stub ends are used). Stainless steel flange simplified as SS flange, it refers to the flanges that made of stainless steel. Common material standards and Grades are ASTM A182 Grade F304/L and F316/L, with pressure ratings from Class 150, 300, 600 etc and to 2500. It used in more industries than carbon steel as stainless steel has better resistant performances on corrosion environment and always provides with a good appearance.

While similar to the Type 304 commonly found in the food industry, both Types 316 and 316L exhibit better corrosion resistance and are stronger at elevated temperatures. ASTM A182 Grade F2 is an alloy steel used for preliminary forming into forged products. The properties cited apply to the annealing conditions. F2 is the ASTM designation for the material. K12122 is the UNS number.

The addition of chromium and molybdenum to a182 grade f9 enhances the corrosion resistance of the flange.

Nickel Alloy C-276 and Hastelloy C-276 can be welded by all common welding methods (oxyacetylene is not recommended).
