The elastic modulus of titanium is low. This means that titanium is very flexible and can return to its original shape when bent. Memory alloys (alloys that deform when cold but return to their original shape when heated) are important for many modern applications. In the fourth stage, pure titanium sponge is mixed with different alloys and scrap metal to create a usable alloy with the help of a consumable electrode electric arc furnace. After all the required metals are melted and mixed in the desired proportions, the substance is then compacted and welded to form the sponge electrode. This sponge electrode is melted in a vacuum arc furnace to form an ingot. These ingots are typically melted again and again to make commercially acceptable ingots.
