Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Since Monel 400 or Alloy 400 is a cold worked metal, this alloy has high hardness, stiffness and strength. By cold working ASTM B164 UNS N04400 bar stock, the alloy is subjected to higher levels of mechanical stress, which in turn causes changes in the alloy’s microstructure.

AISI 904L washers are thin flat ring-type assemblies that are bolted between a bolt and a nut to evenly distribute the load on threaded fasteners. Stainless steel 904L washer has excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting and crevice corrosion in chemicals containing chlorides and sulfuric, phosphoric and nitric acids. SS 904L washer also contains niobium for stabilization against sensitization and resulting intergranular corrosion, a transformation that is not complete until temperatures drop to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

A flange is a ring of steel (forged, cut from plate, or rolled) designed to connect sections of pipe, or to join pipe to a pressure vessel, valve, pump or other integral flanged assembly. Flanges are joined to each other by bolts, and to the piping system by welding or threading (or loose when stub ends are used). One of the main benefits of using nickel alloys is that they tend to be resistant to high temperatures. ASTM B425 UNS N08825 bar stock has a nickel content between 38% and 46% and is able to withstand a moderately high temperature range without affecting its tensile strength. This property is particularly useful in applications involving nuclear fuel reprocessing, where Incoloy 825 Square bar is considered a value-add. In nuclear reprocessing, the process involves separating chemicals such as fission products and excess uranium from spent nuclear fuel.

The yield strength of this material is almost two times that of the usually used austenitic stainless steel grade.

Grade B7 is a heat treated chromium molybdenum low alloy steel with a minimum tensile strength requirement of 125 ksi (860 Mpa), a yield strength of 105 ksi (720 Mpa) and a maximum hardness of 35HRC. Boltport produces B7 headed and headless bolts from alloy steel AISI 4140 bar stock or forgings. A193 Grade B7 is the most commonly used bolting size, plus A194 Grade 2H nuts are used for bolting carbon steel pipe. A193 B7 bolts are available in metric sizes from M6 to M180 and imperial sizes from 1/4 to 7 inches in diameter.

All stainless steel fabrication can only be done using tools designed for stainless steel materials. Tools and work surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned before use. These precautions are necessary to avoid cross-contamination of stainless steel with easily corroded metals that may discolor the surface of processed products.
