Alloy 304/304L has good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, food and beverages, and many organic and inorganic chemicals in moderately oxidizing to moderately reducing environments. The alloy’s high chromium content is resistant to oxidizing solutions such as up to 55% nitric acid by weight and temperatures up to 176°F (80°C).

304 and 304L stainless steel plates belong to the series of austenitic stainless steels and are one of the most versatile and versatile stainless steel plate varieties. They are a relatively low cost stainless steel product that can be used in a variety of applications. Grade 304 has excellent low temperature properties and responds well to cold work hardening. 304 stainless steel sheet grades have good welding characteristics and generally do not require post-weld annealing to restore performance. 304 SS plate has excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of different media. Typical specifications for 304 and 304L stainless steel plates are ASTM A-240, ASME SA -240 and A666.

Stainless steel types 1.4301 and 1.4307 are also known as grades 304 and 304L respectively. Type 304 is the most versatile and versatile stainless steel. It is still sometimes referred to by its old name, 18/8, which is derived from the nominal composition of Type 304, which is 18% chromium and 8% nickel.

Type 304 stainless steel is an austenitic grade that can be heavily deep drawn. This characteristic has resulted in 304 being the primary grade used in applications such as sinks and pans.
