ASTM A312 TP316 is a standard specification for seamless, straight-seam welded, and heavily cold worked welded austenitic stainless steel pipes used in high-temperature and general corrosive service applications. Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Since Monel 400 or Alloy 400 is a cold worked metal, this alloy has high hardness, stiffness and strength. By cold working ASTM B164 UNS N04400 bar stock, the alloy is subjected to higher levels of mechanical stress, which in turn causes changes in the alloy’s microstructure.

Nickel-copper-based alloy 400 Monel 2.4360 cold drawn rod is virtually immune to chloride stress-related corrosion cracking when exposed to corrosive media in typical environments. Monel 400 is a copper and nickel based alloy that is popular today due to its high performance. The alloy has excellent acid and alkali resistance. In addition, it has good tensile strength, ductility, excellent thermal conductivity, and can be hardened by cold work. Additionally, it can be used in applications with temperatures ranging from minus to 538 degrees Celsius.

It is able to withstand a wide range of oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals, and exhibits outstanding resistance to pitting and crevice attack in the presence of chlorides and other halides.

AL6XN is a superaustenitic stainless steel with outstanding resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. AL6XN is a 6 moly alloy that was developed for and is used in highly aggressive environments. It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium contents that give it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and exceptional general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

UNS N08367 also commonly referred to as alloy AL6XN is a low carbon, high purity, nitrogen-bearing “super-austenitic” nickel-molybdenum alloy with excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion.

In high temperature environments, 316 stainless steel tends to outperform 304.

Duplex 2205 bolts (EN 1.4462 ) are made of austenitic-ferritic stainless steel and are designed to provide higher strength and corrosion resistance than 300 series stainless steels. It helps users avoid stress corrosion cracking common to 316 and 317. Duplex 2205 bolts combine the stress corrosion cracking resistance and high strength of ferritic alloys with austenitic fabrication capabilities.

304 and 304L can be specified in annealed conditions with very good formability. Higher nickel versions can be specified for enhanced multi-stage deep drawing characteristics. For spring type applications, Types 304/304L can also be specified in higher strength cold work conditions. Type 304/304L is non-magnetic in the annealed condition, but may become slightly magnetic by cold working.

Duplex stainless steels are considered resistant to stress corrosion cracking because they are not as resistant to this form of corrosion as ferritic stainless steels.

The material can be heat treated to anneal and normalize in air, or quench and temper in polymer or oil. Alloy 4130 has a lower carbon content of 0.28% – 0.33% and slightly higher amounts of other elements. And the material is easy to process. 4140 low alloy steel has a range of 2. 375″ to 12.750″ OD with wall thicknesses ranging from 0.375″ to 1.5″. Alloy 4145 has a slightly higher carbon content than 4140 and 4130 types of pipes.

The increase of carbon element content makes the steel sturdier and stiffer after the heat treatment, and it also becomes less ductile. Without the heat treatment, higher carbon will reduce weldability.

The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance. Flange connects the pipe with various equipment and valves. Breakup flanges are added in the pipeline system if regular maintenance in required during plant operation.
A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrdlated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls are required in the selection and application of all there elements to attain a joint, which has acceptable leak tightness.
A flange is a protruded ridge, lip or rim, either external or internal, that serves to increase strength (as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam); for easy attachment/transfer of contact force with another object (as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera); or for stabilizing and guiding the movements of a machine or its parts (as the inside flange of a rail car or tram wheel, which keep the wheels from running off the rails). The term “flange” is also used for a kind of tool used to form flanges.

C-276 alloy is normally solution heat-treated at 2050¡ãF (1121¡ãC) and rapid quenched. If possible, parts which have been hot-formed should be solution heat-treated prior to final fabrication or installation.

Monel 400 is resistant to steam and sea water as well as highly corrosive solutions such as sulfuric, hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids after degassing. It has excellent solderability and can withstand very high pressure and weight. The alloy has excellent mechanical properties at sub-zero temperatures, with a melting point of 2370¡ã – 2460¡ã F, and the product can be used at temperatures up to 1000¡ã C.

Incoloy 800, 800H and 800HT have nearly identical chemical composition and physical properties.

can be fabricated, combined with good tensile, fatigue,
creep, and rupture strength, have resulted in its use in a
wide range of applications.

Stainless steel 347 hex head bolts easily lose their shell electrons, resulting in a free-flowing cloud of electrons in their otherwise solid arrangement. Meanwhile, 347 stainless steel fasteners are used in corrosive environments where temperatures may cycle in excess of 800o F (425o C). Refinery applications are common. Other uses for 347 stainless steel are thermal sensors and thermocouples.

SAE 304 stainless steel is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18% and 20%) and nickel (between 8% and 10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel. It is less electrically and thermally conductive than carbon steel. It is magnetic, but less magnetic than steel. It has a higher corrosion resistance than regular steel and is widely used because of the ease in which it is formed into various shapes.[1]

Supler Duplex Steel UNS S32760 stud bolt has a higher yield strength and lower ductility than the austenitic steels so fabricators may find that higher forming forces, increased radius of bending, and increased allowance for spring-back are necessary.

SS 316L, the low carbon version of SS 316 and is immune from sensitisation (grain boundary carbide precipitation).

Type 304 stainless steel is a T 300 Series Stainless Steel austenitic. It has a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, combined with a maximum of 0.08% carbon. It is defined as a Chromium-Nickel austenitic alloy.304 stainless steel is used for a variety of household and industrial applications such as food handling and processing equipment, screws,[3] machinery parts, utensils, and exhaust manifolds. 304 stainless steel is also used in the architectural field for exterior accents such as water and fire features. It is also a common coil material for vaporizers.

2507 Duplex is highly resistant to uniform corrosion by organic acids such as formic and acetic acid.

Cu-Ni forged threaded fittings are usually supplied as redrawn tubes in the annealed condition. The combination of good ductility and strength provides excellent formability. In addition to this, these forged fittings are also resistant to rust, oxidation, pitting, stress cracking and crack stress.
