AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

Higher chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content results in a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) > 40, providing superior pitting and crevice corrosion capabilities to austenitic and duplex stainless steels in virtually all corrosive media, and critical pitting temperature Above 50¡ãC .

Alloy 800 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with high strength and excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion at high temperatures. ASTM B407 UNS N08800 Incoloy 800 W. Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Since Monel 400 or Alloy 400 is a cold worked metal, this alloy has high hardness, stiffness and strength. By cold working ASTM B164 UNS N04400 bar stock, the alloy is subjected to higher levels of mechanical stress, which in turn causes changes in the alloy’s microstructure.

Nickel based 800 Incoloy Hexagonal Pipe is known to have a good resistance to corrosion. Specifically speaking, the Incoloy 800 Pipe offers sufficient resistance against both carburization as well as oxidation corrosion.

Low alloy steel ASTM A182 F11 flanges typically have a total alloy content of 1.5% – 5%. Its common alloying elements are manganese, chromium, silicon, nickel, molybdenum and vanadium. It may contain up to four or five different quantities of these alloys. At the same time, the increased strength of the alloy steel F11 flange may require higher forming pressures. Annealing of SA 182 Gr F11 steel flanges is accomplished by water quenching by thorough immersion at 1725¡ãF – 1850¡ãF (941¡ãC – 1010¡ãC) and can only be hardened by cold work.

Alloy 2507 has 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. This high molybdenum, chromium and nitrogen content results in excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion attack and the duplex structure provides 2507 with exceptional resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Incoloy 800HT will not become brittle even after prolonged use in the 1200-1600¡ã F range where many stainless steels become brittle. 800HT exhibits excellent cold forming properties typically associated with Nichrome. When cold forming is extensive, the grain size produces a distinct undulating surface known as “orange peel”. Incoloy 800HT can be welded by common techniques used on stainless steel.

S31803 is the Unified Numbering System (UNS) designation for the original duplex stainless steel. The UNS system was created by multiple trade groups in the 1970s to reduce confusion when the same alloy was called different things, and vice versa. Each metal is represented by a letter followed by five numbers, where the letter represents the metal series, i.e. S for stainless steel.

For paper mill applications requiring lower alloy grades that do not have sufficient corrosion resistance. Based on a 22% chromium content, they have a combined austenitic:ferritic microstructure that provides greater strength, corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness.

The UNS S31803 (ASTM F51) specification has been largely superseded by UNS S32205 (1.4462, ASTM F60). This reflects their desire to maximize the alloy’s corrosion properties, thanks to the development of the AOD steelmaking process, which allows for tighter control of composition. In addition, it allows to influence the nitrogen addition level rather than just being present as a background element. Therefore, the highest performing duplex grades seek to maximize the content of chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo) and nitrogen (N).

Stainless steel takes its name from its ability to resist rusting thanks to the interaction between its alloying components and the environment to which they’re exposed. Numerous types of stainless steel serve a variety of purposes and many overlap. All stainless steels are comprised of at least 10% chromium. But not all stainless steels are the same.

The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance. Flange connects the pipe with various equipment and valves. Breakup flanges are added in the pipeline system if regular maintenance in required during plant operation.
A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrdlated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls are required in the selection and application of all there elements to attain a joint, which has acceptable leak tightness.
A flange is a protruded ridge, lip or rim, either external or internal, that serves to increase strength (as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam); for easy attachment/transfer of contact force with another object (as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera); or for stabilizing and guiding the movements of a machine or its parts (as the inside flange of a rail car or tram wheel, which keep the wheels from running off the rails). The term “flange” is also used for a kind of tool used to form flanges.

The alloy is slightly magnetic at room temperature. Monel 400 is widely used in the chemical, oil and marine industries.

ASTM a105 forged fittings is heavier, thicker and are intended for heavy industrial use. It is made up of forged carbon steel. Forging steel process makes the fitting very strong. Carbon steel is heated to molten temperatures and placed in the dies.

The alloy steel of ASTM A182 F11 flanges is called chrome-moly flanges. These are flanges that contain chromium and molybdenum, these are the ingredients that make them resistant to corrosion, which also adds to its toughness.

Monel K500 alloy has the same corrosion resistance as Monel 400 alloy.

To avoid possible stress relaxation grain boundary cracking of N08811 in applications above 1000¡ãF the welded fabrication may be heated 1650¡ãF for about one hour per inch of thickness or 30 minutes minimum then air cooled.

ASTM B564 UNS N04400 Pipe Flang Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy (about 67% Ni ¨C 23% Cu) that is resistant to sea water and steam at high temperatures as well as to salt and caustic solutions. Alloy 400 is a solid solution alloy that can only be hardened by cold working. This nickel alloy exhibits characteristics like good corrosion resistance, good weldability and high strength. A low corrosion rate in rapidly flowing brackish or seawater combined with excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in most freshwaters, and its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions led to its wide use in marine applications and other non-oxidizing chloride solutions.

Werkstoff Nr 2.4668 forged parts can be easily machined in the annealed or age hardened condition. While machining the alloy in the age hardened condition yields a better surface finish, machining Inconel 718 alloy in the annealed condition yields longer tool life.
