HASTELLOY G-30 alloy is a high-chromium nickel-based alloy that exhibits corrosion resistance superior to most other nickel- and iron-based alloys in commercial phosphoric acid and in many complex environments containing highly oxidizing acids such as nitric/hydrochloric acid, Nitric/hydrofluoric and sulfuric acid. The resistance of G-30 alloy to the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the heat affected zone makes it suitable for the as-welded condition in most chemical processing applications.

To qualify as 316L stainless steel, the amount of carbon cannot exceed 0.03%. This decreases the risk of carbon precipitation, making it a better option for welding to ensure maximum corrosion resistance.

304 stainless steel is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18% and 20%) and nickel (between 8% and 10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents.
